About Bobbejaanland
Bobbejaanland in Lichtaart, in the Belgian Kempen, was founded by Bobbejaan Schoepen, a Flemish singer and entertainer who was internationally successful in the 1950s. In 1959 he bought a stretch of marshland, drained it and opened a large music venue there in 1961.
From the mid-1970s the venue grew into an amusement park, with rides becoming more important than the shows, and it stayed in the family's hands until 2004. It is known for rides such as its indoor roller coaster from 1989, and today offers a mix of thrill rides and family attractions.
