About Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park
Typhoon Lagoon at Walt Disney World near Orlando opened on 1 June 1989. Its story is a tropical paradise hit by a typhoon, with boats, fishing gear and surfboards scattered where the storm left them.
It has one of the largest outdoor wave pools in the world, big enough to bodysurf, overlooked by Miss Tilly, a shrimp boat stuck on top of Mount Mayday that shoots a geyser of water into the air. Slides, a lazy river and areas for children complete the park.
