About Efteling
Efteling in Kaatsheuvel is the largest theme park in the Netherlands and one of the oldest in the world. It opened on 31 May 1952 with the Fairytale Forest designed by the illustrator Anton Pieck, three years before the first Disneyland, and grew from a nature park with a playground into a full theme park.
Myths, legends, fairy tales and folklore set the tone throughout the park, with a romantic, slightly nostalgic touch. Next to the fairy tales there are plenty of rides for all ages, including six roller coasters and five dark rides. With more than five million visitors a year it is one of the busiest parks in Europe.
