About Tokyo Disneyland
Tokyo Disneyland in Urayasu, just outside Tokyo in Chiba Prefecture, opened on 15 April 1983 as the first Disney park outside the United States. Its main gate is right next to Maihama station.
It was built in the style of Disneyland in California and the Magic Kingdom in Florida, with seven themed areas: World Bazaar, Adventureland, Westernland, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, Critter Country and Toontown, around Cinderella Castle. Unusually, it is owned and run by the Oriental Land Company, which licenses the Disney stories, together with its neighbour Tokyo DisneySea.
